Brief Biography

A native Californian transplanted to Austin, Texas, Barbara has extensive experience in marketing and advertising. She is also a RIVA-trained focus group moderator and qualitative researcher, who has worked on projects ranging from education, rural philanthropy and international relations to studies for the governments of Egypt and Kenya. She spent seven years at Public Strategies, Inc., a public policy consulting firm based in Austin, Texas, where she worked as a media consultant and crisis communications advisor for a variety of clients, including Fannie Mae, The University of Texas, The Discovery Channel, Schering Plough, The Lance Armstrong Foundation, the Government of Mexico and SBC. Barbara spent nearly twenty years as a reporter and photojournalist for numerous publications, including TIME, LIFE, Newsweek, The New York Times, National Geographic, Fortune and Sports Illustrated. Her photographic work is in the permanent archive of the TIME-LIFE library and she is represented by Getty Images. She has two children, Maryemma and Henry.
