Conservation in Conata Basin

Encompassing 142,000 acres, Conata Basin is one of North America’s most intact remaining grasslands. The Conservancy has worked with ranchers and other partners to protect habitat in the Basin, which is located south of Badlands National Park in southwestern South Dakota, for burrowing owls, black-footed ferrets and other wildlife.
