May 11 Saturday 8 am - noon Saturday Morning Bird Walk. We will use this bird walk to contribute sightings to the North American Migratory Bird Count, a nationwide effort being held today. Compiler, Jerry Skinner 570-396-6205.

May 18 Saturday 8-11 am Saturday Morning Bird Walk.
May 25 Saturday 7 am - noon Saturday Morning Bird Walk. Our special yearly trip to State Game Land 35 along the Susquehanna River in Hallstead. Meet at the rear of the McDonald’s parking lot. Note the earlier meeting time.
May 27 Monday 10 am - noon Pennsylvania Hiking Week event-Take a Memorial Day hike through the old growth (“virgin woods”).
June 22 Saturday 8-930 pm Lightening Bugs-after a brief program we’ll head into the fields to observe lightening bugs at the peak of their display. Great for children.
June 13 Saturday 10am -noon Dragonfly Survey-We’ll bring the nets…you bring the boots! We’ll visit several Woodbourne wetlands to catch and identify these beautiful flying predators.
July 20 Saturday 10 am - noon Stream Stomp-Wear your swimming suits-we’ll get wet in a local stream searching for crayfish, insects, and fish!
July 20 Sunday 1-3 pm Caterpillars and Butterflies-We’ll focus on finding caterpillars and the butterflies they become. We’ll discuss how you can rear them at home.
July 26 Friday 730-930 pm Sugaring and Lighting for Moths-National Moth Week program. We’ll help celebrate this first ever national event by attracting night insects to a sugary dessert and ‘black’ light. Flashlights (with red filters) are recommended for walking the trails after dark.
July 27 Saturday 9 -11 am Purple Loosestrife Pulling Party-We continue to fight the good fight to keep this invasive plant from invading our wetland. This is a wet and muddy service project—call for more details.
July 27 Saturday 8-930 pm Astronomy-After a brief program, we will use the Preserve’s astronomical telescope to view the night sky. Feel free to bring your own binoculars or telescopes.
