Join The Nature Conservancy on Long Island for its Beaches and Bays Gala on Saturday, June 29, 2013, at the Center for Conservation in East Hampton, New York. Charles Marder, a conservationist and Trustee of TNC’s Long Island Chapter is this year’s Honoree. Charlie is the founder and owner of Marders Nursery in Bridgehampton. We are delighted to have this opportunity to thank Charlie for his outstanding commitment to The Nature Conservancy and its work to conserve the lands and waters on which all life depends. Once again, our Gala Chairs are Bettina and Fred Stelle and Polly Bruckmann and Marilyn Breslow will be serving again as Journal Co-Chairs.
The Nature Conservancy’s Beaches and Bays Gala raises funds to protect and manage Long Island’s rich environment of wetlands, bluffs, dunes, beaches, forests and underwater habitats. Gala proceeds will be used to help develop new water quality standards, leverage public funds for open space protection, restock clams and scallops in the Peconic and Great South Bays, and provide training and tools for communities to safeguard coastlines from rising seas.
