The Nature Conservancy today announced the top four finalists in Santa Fe for the second annual Nature’s Plate Contest. Nature’s Plate is a people’s choice contest for each area’s top green restaurant. Whether you're a vegan, vegetarian or a meat-eater, it's a good bet the healthiest and tastiest food on your table came from nature. The year-round Santa Fe Farmers Market supports the local food scene with more than 150 active vendors who sell foods from chiles to honey, grown right in northern New Mexico.

You can make a difference by voting for your favorite green restaurant for a Nature's Plate award. Wondering which restaurants to vote for? Consider eateries that are using sustainable seafood, free-range and grass-fed meat, organic produce, locally sourced food, and tap water (rather than bottled water).

While the contest is focused on restaurants, it’s only the start of a conversation about food, conservation and The Nature Conservancy’s work with farmers, fishermen and ranchers. Learn more about what makes a restaurant green

Voting for the finalists begins today, October 1, and the winner(s) will be announced October 17.
