Restoration, Shorebirds and Horseshoe Crabs on the Delaware Bay

May 03, 2014
10am to 2pm

PSEG’s Dennis Township Site, Cape May County

Directions

Take a spring nature walk through the restored salt marsh of PSEG’s Dennis Township Site. Enjoy views of Delaware Bay’s diverse migrating shorebirds and songbirds feeding and nesting at the marsh edge. Participants will also caravan to nearby East Point Lighthouse, to observe horseshoe crab spawning, and learn more about these complex animals. In addition to searching for migrating shorebirds, comb the tideline searching for horseshoe crab eggs, the fuel that sustains long distance migrants like the red knot, ruddy turnstone and semi-palmated sandpiper among others.

Meet at the parking area on Stimpson’s Island Road, Dennis Township. Please dress for the weather; bring binoculars if you have them.

To register for this event please contact Jennifer Rinaldi at jrinaldi@tnc.org or 908-955-0356.
