A Fond Farewell

After leading the chapter for 13 years, state director Daryl Burtnett is moving on to the next great adventure.

The new year is upon us, and it’s a great moment to reflect upon the many things for which we can be thankful. My work at the Conservancy with you, our members, tops my list. I’m so proud of our efforts to preserve nature and the special places in New Hampshire we love. And so it is with powerful mixed emotions I tell you that on January 31st, I will leave my job at The Nature Conservancy to become Executive Director of the Northeast Wilderness Trust.

It has been a great honor to work at the New Hampshire Chapter over the past 13 years. I’m continually amazed at the conservation results we strive for, and with your support how much we achieve. I am so proud of what this chapter has accomplished - we’ve made a huge impact here in New Hampshire and beyond.

Yet there is so much more to do. The work of the Conservancy, protecting the natural world upon which all life depends, is more relevant today than ever. The inspirational natural landscape of New Hampshire, and the people who value and rely upon it have made the Conservancy great and give me hope for the future. To the staff, partners and you, our supporters; thank you all for all your contributions to our work. I will carry the lessons learned into my next endeavor, and I have no doubt that you will share your knowledge, passion and support with the New Hampshire chapter’s next generation of leadership as you have with me. Thank you.
