Question 5 Bond Initiative

The Conservancy supported legislation to secure $47.2 million for parks and wildlife.

In 1989-90, The Nature Conservancy helped develop and support landmark legislation for a $47.2 million parks and wildlife bond issue on the November 1990 ballot. On July 5, 1989, Governor Bob Miller signed Senate Bill 189 into law, putting Question 5 on the ballot. On November 6, 1990, the initiative passed by 66% statewide and 73% in Clark County.

Strategic Importance
A political campaign organized by the Conservancy and Nevadans for Parks and Wildlife developed broad statewide support for the initiative.

Partners
Nevadans for Parks and Wildlife; the initiative was endorsed by every major business and conservation organization in the state and all five of Nevada's living governors.
