The Lagomarsino Canyon Petroglyph Site is one of the largest and most spectacular rock art sites in Nevada. Located in the Virginia Range on an extensive cliff face and talus, the site has shaped archaeological thinking about the styles and functions of prehistoric rock art in the Desert West. Dr. Quinlan describes the results of 5 years of archaeological survey at the site carried out by the Nevada Rock Art Foundation and the insights into prehistoric lifeways provided by this research.
Speaker: Angus R. Quinlan, PhD, RPA Executive Director of Nevada Rock Art Foundation Dr. Angus Quinlan was born and raised in the United Kingdom where his early interest in history developed into a lifelong passion for historic preservation and the archaeology of prehistoric social systems. Dr. Quinlan specializes in the archaeology of religion and Great Basin rock art.
