How We Work

The Nature Conservancy is guided by a framework we call Conservation by Design.

The Nature Conservancy's mission is to preserve plants, animals, and natural communities that represent the diversity of life on Earth by protecting the lands and waters they need to survive.

Why We're Successful

  • We work closely with communities, farmers, ranchers, businesses, and people like you.
  • We have a science-based plan that achieves tangible results.
  • We use a non-confrontational approach.
  • In its annual survey of the largest U.S. charities, Forbes calculated The Nature Conservancy's fundraising efficiency at 91%, which is among the highest ratings for charities.

The Nature Conservancy has several priority conservation initiatives to address the principal threats to conservation at the sites where we work.  Through these initiatives, we are advancing conservation science, developing multi-site strategies, catalyzing public/private partnerships, and improving public policy.
