Learning Adventures

Our Gil Crain* Natural History Workshops enrich your guest ranch experience. Whether your passion is birds or bears, Montana's Rocky Mountain Front is an ideal setting for exploration. Daily field excursions are supplemented with discussions and slide shows.

2012 Workshops

This year we've added an second birding workshop workshop with famed ornithologist and artist David Sibley. Award-winning nature photographer Kenton Rowe will also be back with a full week-long photography course.

Birding with Sibley 2

Explore birds of the Rockies and Prairies with David Sibley. $2500.

Path of Great Bear

Explore the  ways of the grizzly bear in one of its last strongholds.   $2200.

Exploring the Front

Explore miles of trails in the Rocky Mountain Front, during our favorite season.   $2000.

Nature Photography

Sharpen your skills and learn the tricks to capturing all the glories of the natural world.     $2000.

Member Getaway

We've set aside a weekend just for the wonderful people who support our work!    $350.


2012 Rates
  •  2012 Workshops range from $2000 to $2500 per person based on double occupancy.
  • Single occupancy add $150 to the weekly rate.
  • Member Getaway weekends are $350 per person
  • Fees include airport shuttle, food & lodging
  • A 15% gratuity for our hard-working staff will be added to your bill
  • Most major credit cards, traveler's checks and cash are accepted. Checks should be made payable to The Nature Conservancy

Reservation & Cancellation Policy  

20% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm reservations • Balance of reservation due 30 days prior to arrival • For reservations placed less than 30 days prior to arrival, full amount of reservation is due at the time of booking • We accept personal checks and most major credit cards • Lodging tax and a 15% gratuity will be added to your bill.

Due to our intimate size and remote location, cancellations can affect us significantly. Consequently no refund is available for cancellation less than 30 days prior to arrival. No credit will be allowed for absences during the reserved stay or early departures.

 

Gil Crain was a longtime Montana State University professor and volunteer at Yellowstone National Park.  Taking into account his love and appreciation of nature and his many years as a supporter of The Nature Conservancy, his friends and family created a perpetual fund to immortalize his memory, by forever supporting the preservation of nature in Montana through funding of the Conservancy's work.
