About the Ranch

Walking the Walk

As a part of The Nature Conservancy, our commitment to living lightly on the planet includes here at the ranch. That's why our swimming pool and guest showers are heated with energy from the sun, a wind generator powers our office & our greenhouse provides the kitchen with a steady supply of fresh vegetables. But don't worry, we haven't sacrificed any guest comfort!

Our History

The ranch has been operated by The Nature Conservancy in Montana since 1987, but has a much longer history.

It was opened in1930 as the Circle 8 Ranch by Kenneth & Alice Gleason. They offered a rustic retreat amidst the grandeur of the Rocky Mountain Front. Today, we continue to carry on the Gleason’s tradition of hospitality, but have expanded the vision by making the ranch a place where people could learn more about nature and conservation. The result is a rare connection that brings people back year after year.
