This is a great time of year for photographing the Rocky Mountain Front. The autumn sun and changing colors paint the mountains in a golden glow. The Front's extraordinary variety of wildlife is particularly active this time of year and daily field trips will take us into to an amazing variety of habitat types, each supporting a magnificent diversity of plants and animals.
Award-winning nature photographer Kenton Rowe will lead the workshop, joined by the Pine Butte Naturalist who'll provide enriching information about what we're photographing! Because we limit the size of our group, Kenton will be able to tailor instruction to suit a range of skills, providing everyone tips that will enhance your ability to capture, visually, the breadth of nature's wonders.
During the day, we’ll explore the wild and pristine lands of Montana by van and on foot. In the evenings, audio-visual presentations will enhance our experiences in the field. We’ll visit Pine Butte Swamp Preserve, The Nature Conservancy's unique 18,000-acre sanctuary that lies at the foot of the Rockies. Day hikes will take us into the forested Rocky Mountains, the Teton River bottomlands, and into Montana's vast prairies. In order to maintain a high quality experience for all, enrollment will be limited to 16 people.
Along the way, you'll have the opportunity to explore the plants and wildlife that make the Front such a magnificent natural treasure.
