Jan came to The Nature Conservancy in 2004 from Northwestern University, where she served as associate director of corporate relations. Jan worked as a senior associate director of philanthropy before becoming the director of philanthropy in Michigan.
A graduate of Western Michigan University, Jan earned her bachelor’s degree in English and has earned a Certificate of Fundraising Management through the Indiana University Center on Philanthropy’s Fundraising School, as well as her designation as a Certified Fundraising Executive though the Association for Fundraising Professionals. Before beginning her career in fundraising, she worked in the pharmaceutical industry, in both sales and management. She has owned an interior design business and worked for several other non-profits, directing programs in addition to serving as an active community volunteer.
