Battle Creek Cypress Swamp Audio Tour

The Nature Conservancy’s first preserve in Maryland, Battle Creek Cypress Swamp is home to the only stand of bald cypress in the state west of the Chesapeake Bay. Situated at the northernmost limit of the species' natural range in the United States, Battle Creek preserve is a captivating place. Visitors can enjoy a quarter-mile boardwalk and nature center operated by the Calvert County Natural Resources Division.

Getting Started

Visit the preserve page to plan your visit and then download the audio tour map (PDF). The numbers marked on the map correspond to the audio files in the tour. You can select and listen to each track from the audio player below or download the files to your mobile device. Remember - some of our secluded preserves are spectacular, but you may not get cell service. We recommend you download the recordings and maps before you visit. Enjoy!
