This site is the only officially protected site in Louisiana for Mountain Laurel.

Pushepatapa Creek Preserve, a high quality riverfront forest, is the only officially protected site for a state-rare plant, the mountain laurel. The tract is adjacent to land owned by the John James Audubon Foundation. This preserve is not open for public visitation.
