Ralph Miller

Brief Biography

Ralph Miller grew up in Hanover, NH, where he did a good deal of mountain hiking and skiing.  As a young teenager, he was fortunate enough to take three separate trips to the Wind River Mountains and Tetons of Wyoming.  This passion for mountain climbing continues today with recent trips to trek in the Himalayas and a trip to Mexico to climb volcanoes.

In the 1950's, Ralph used his expertise to teach mountain climbing and skiing to Special Forces troops during his service in the United States Army.

Ralph continues to enjoy hiking, skiing, hang gliding and other outdoor activities.  He currently resides in Lexington, KY with his wife, Pam.

When hiking, carry plenty of water in reusable containers

Nature.org: Have you always had an interest in conservation?

Yes, conservation has always been one of my passions.

Nature.org:  What inspired you to become a Trustee member of TNC?

My enjoyment of the outdoors and an anger at how the countryside is frequently decimated for no good reason.

Nature.org:  Do you have a favorite memory of your time as a Trustee member / TNC supporter?

My favorite project is the Davis Bend Project on the Green River.  It has many facets for educating students and others about the flora, fauna, history of the region, and conservation of resources with appropriate building practices.

Nature.org:  As a Trustee member, what are your goals for TNC over the next couple of years?

My two goals are: 1) Continue to reduce the "Land Purchasing Debt" and 2) Help complete the Davis Bend Project.
