The Nature Conservancy's Indiana Chapter has been very excited about one of our newest ventures - the agricultural two-stage ditch design. Why so excited? The two-stage ditch is conservation tool that is beneficial to both agriculture and the environment.
This design demonstrates how a change in the way agricultural ditches are made can not only reduce erosion and improve water quality, but can also lower maintenance cost to the farmer. Learn more about the two-stage ditch with our video - To Build A Better Ditch - created for the Western Lake Erie Basin Project Office by Ravenswood Media and funded by The Joyce Foundation, a non-profit that supports efforts to protect the natural environment of the Great Lakes among its other endeavors in the region.
