Learn about Illinois' freshwater, grassland and urban conservation priorities in this video.

Grasslands make your life better: We are restoring prairie at Nachusa Grasslands, which cleans both our air and water. We’ve protected and reclaimed more than 3,000 acres of this critical habitat, which will support the planned reintroduction of bison in the coming years.

Freshwater makes your life better: We’re collaborating with farmers, corporations and other like-minded organizations to protect the quality of our freshwater. Reconnecting the waters of the Emiquon Preserve to the Illinois River will guide future projects improving the health of rivers around the world.

Urban conservation makes your life better: We’re working in urban areas to connect people to nature and ensure a more sustainable future. By strategically working to protect the Great Lakes, we’re preserving the water supply for 40 million people in cities like Chicago while also determining how to adapt to climate change.
