LEAF

Leaders in Environmental Action for the Future

Hakeem Coleman, Student at Al Raby High School in Chicago

The Nature Conservancy asked Hakeem a few questions about his upcoming LEAF internship. Here's what he has to say:

TNC:

What excites you the most about your LEAF internship?

Hakeem:

I’m really looking forward to meeting new people and experiencing a totally new environment, one much different than Chicago!

TNC:

You’re starting the internship this week. What are you expecting?

Hakeem:

I’m expecting it’s going to take a lot of hard work, leadership, confidence and commitment to getting the job done.

TNC:

What have you learned at Al Raby that you can apply during your internship?

Hakeem:

I think Al Raby has taught me to strive to work harder toward goals and be a better person. Since we’re going to be working hard, I think this will help me.

TNC:

What do you hope to learn from your internship?

Hakeem:

I really want to build characteristics that I don’t already have.

TNC:

Anything else you want to add?

Hakeem:

I’m really hoping this LEAF experience will help me in life and in my career. Right now, I want to be an architect and build things that are safe for the environment and people. I think being out in nature will help me understand and visualize how I can do this.
