Leaders in Environmental Action for the Future

Jake Daggy, Student at The Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences

The Nature Conservancy asked Jake a few questions about his upcoming LEAF internship. Learn what he's looking forward to, nervous about and what he wants to learn.

Nature.org:

What are you looking forward to during your internship at Emiquon?

Jake:

A month spent out in nature, away from technology, out in nature. Also, I am excited to be exploring possible career opportunities. Plus, being outside and having an enjoyable experience, making new friends, is something I look forward to.

Nature.org:

What is your favorite thing about the outdoors?

Jake:

It isn’t touched by industrialization, so you are able to enjoy the space, the freedom, and be outside and do anything you want to.

Nature.org:

How do you think this experience will help you in choosing a career?

Jake:

Well, I am not sure if I want to go into some kind of environmental journalism or environmental science. So while I am down in Emiquon, I am going to keep a log and then try to get it published in a magazine. I think this whole experience, keeping a journal and doing conservation work in Emiquon will help me decide between science and the arts.
