Jason’s Journal is a periodic update written by Jason Beverlin, Illinois River Program Director, to bring you the latest news about the restoration at Emiquon.
This has been an important year in the Emiquon restoration, and we are excited to share it with you. With so much restoration work underway, we have a lot to talk about!
As you know, the Conservancy has been committed to the preservation of the Illinois River for more than a decade. This commitment strengthened with the birth of Emiquon in 2000, when The Nature Conservancy purchased over 7,000 acres of farmland 30 minutes south of Peoria along the Illinois River. Since that time, we’ve been working to restore this land as a functioning floodplain.
Under the guidance of Jason Beverlin, Illinois River Program Director, the Emiquon restoration project boasts some tremendous accomplishments over the past year. We look forward to sharing these achievements—and many more—with you.
