Matthew Ward

Flat Ranch Nature Preserve Manager

Matthew Ward recently joined The Nature Conservancy’s Idaho team to lead conservation and outreach projects on the Flat Ranch nature preserve and in the Upper Henry’s Fork area. Matthew’s focus has been collaborating with the Idaho Fish and Game, USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service and BYU-Idaho on restoration projects in the Upper Henry’s Fork region, developing community outreach efforts and summer education programs at the nature preserve.

Prior to coming to Idaho, Matthew worked for The Nature Conservancy as a Western Montana Land Steward for three seasons and spent over ten years working for the US Forest Service in Montana and Alaska. In addition, he spent time as a research technician for the University of Montana and the University of Wyoming doing wildlife and ecology research in Montana. Matthew received a bachelor’s in Geography from the University of Montana in 2001.

Matthew’s wife, Stacey Simmons, is a licensed massage therapist, yoga teacher, certified Oula teacher and a mother to their four-year-old son, Quinn. They enjoy camping, climbing, skiing, canoeing and rafting in the mountains and rivers of Montana and Idaho.
