Kāne‘ohe Invasive Algae Pull This Saturday

Come join the fun at an invasive algae pull this Saturday at Waikalua Loko Fishpond in Kāne‘ohe.

The Nature Conservancy is seeking volunteers to participate in an invasive limu (algae) pull at Waikalua Loko Fishpond in Kāne‘ohe this coming Saturday, March 9, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.

The event is being organized by the the State DLNR Division of Aquatic Resources and the Conservancy.

Space is limited. Interested volunteers should RSVP via email at the following address: trwalker@hawaii.edu

Directions on how to get to fishpond and where to park will be provided to all participants who sign up for the event.

Volunteers are strongly encouraged to wear water shoes and gloves and bring sunscreen and water bottles.

Any volunteer under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a guardian.

Below is the schedule of events for the algae pull:

8:00-8:30am: Registration
8:30: Pule and Instructions
9:00-11:00: Algae Pull
11:00: Clean Up
11:30: Light Refreshments
