The Conservation Learning Center seeks to expand upon the successful model of The Disney Wilderness Preserve, by sharing the innovative strategies pioneered here to advance conservation elsewhere.
A member of the Organization of Biological Field Stations, the learning center is a campus of indoor and outdoor research labs used to implement The Disney Wilderness Preserve’s conservation programs. The Conservancy uses the preserve's restoration and stewardship activities as a demonstration platform to exchange research results and to promote new conservation practices.
A variety of groups bring programs to the learning center, reaching out to corporate leaders, government agencies, educators, administrators, scientists and the community at large. The learning center is not so much a place as it is a new way of doing business—one that values science, fosters education, builds partnerships and promotes the sharing of research results to guide future stewardship in Florida and around the world.
The center offers conservation practitioners a hands-on opportunity to learn about Conservancy efforts and to implement such strategies on their own lands and in their own communities.
