Brief Biography

Paige Lewis is the Director of The Nature Conservancy’s Forest Health and Fire Initiative for Colorado. Through this initiative, the Conservancy aims to significantly increase the scale and pace of ecological restoration on more than 6 million acres of priority forest land across the state. As a senior policy advisor on the Colorado Chapter’s Government Relations team, Paige also serves as the Conservancy’s primary liaison with elected officials, land management agencies and non-governmental organizations on forestry issues. She is responsible for building the partnerships and strategies needed to achieve the Conservancy’s ambitious conservation goals.

Paige is a founding member of the Colorado Front Range Roundtable, a nationally recognized forestry collaborative, and continues to support their work as a member of the Executive Team. She is currently a senior advisor to the Governor’s Forest Health Advisory Council and has been instrumental in the passage of several pieces of legislation increasing both authority and resources for forest and fire management in Colorado. Paige recently completed a collaborative project with the Colorado State Forest Service to develop a comprehensive geospatial database that will provide a consistent scientific foundation for future forest management prioritization and planning across all ownerships. In recognition of her work, Paige was recently appointed to represent the Conservancy on the Federal Advisory Act Committee associated with the U.S. Forest Service’s new Collaborative Forest Landscape Restoration Program.

Prior to her current position, Paige spent more than a decade as a senior policy advisor on forestry and other natural resource issues at the state, regional and national levels. She was a primary author of several strategy documents that have guided forest health and fire policy at the national level including the Western Governor’s Association’s Ten Year Strategy and Implementation Plan for Reducing Wildfire Risks to Communities and Ecosystems and the Community Wildfire Protection Planning Handbook.

Paige’s love for our nation’s forests began in her own backyard with family excursions into the Wasatch Mountains of northern Utah. She continues to enjoy all that forests have to offer from her home in Colorado, which she shares with her husband and son.
