NATURAL TREASURES IN OHIO
Why It's a Natural Treasure
Englewood MetroPark is 1,900 acres of lakes, woods, wetlands and meadows located outside of Dayton. With its floodplain forests and wetlands, Englewood MetroPark helps to buffer and protect the Stillwater State Scenic
River, a key tributary to the Great Miami River, which empties into the larger Ohio River. Defining the state’s
southern border, the Ohio River is home to substantial fish and mussel populations and is a source of drinking
water for millions.
The Nature Conservancy works throughout the Ohio River Basin to help balance the needs of people and nature that rely on this important freshwater resource.
What to See and Do
Fishing, bird-watching, picnicking, horseback riding, canoeing and camping are just some of the activities available. Highlights include paddling the Stillwater River, enjoying the paved woodland bike path, playing 18 holes on the disc golf course and spending a night under the stars at the campsite.
