The Chesapeake Bay is the symbolic heart of our region. Just as your own heart’s health is tied to a complex network of arteries, veins and capillaries, our bay is connected to a “circulatory system.”
Hundreds of miles of streams and rivers flow through 64,000 square miles of forests, farms and cities before feeding into the bay. Our Chesapeake Bay team collaborates across this entire watershed — spanning Delaware, Maryland/DC, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia — to protect and restore the bay.
