Estate Little Princess, St. Croix
Estate Little Princess, established in 1749 as a sugar plantation, is now a 25-acre (9.7-hectare) Nature Conservancy preserve. It's also home to the Conservancy's headquarters for the Virgin Islands and Eastern Caribbean programs.
In addition, Estate Little Princess serves as a demonstration site, showcasing innovative green technologies such as gray water (sink, shower, washer) reuse, solar power, solar water-heating and constructed wetlands for sewage treatment. The Conservancy is restoring the former plantation's Great House and overseer's home to its former splendor.
