The Arnavon Islands are one of the Coral Triangle's biggest Hawksbill sea turtle nesting sites and one of the Solomon Islands' most inspiring marine conservation stories. It was here that the Conservancy helped reconcile three communities in conflict around a shared vision of protecting—rather than hunting—the region's rapidly declining Hawksbill sea turtle populations.

Now, two decades later, one of the world's richest pockets of marine biodiversity has seen marked improvement. The Arnavons have witnessed a 200 percent increase in Hawksbill sea turtles, and the Conservation Officers in charge of helping baby sea turtles make it to the sea are protecting more clutches of eggs each year.
