Brief Biography
“If we can help influence the development of dams, levees and water diversions, then we can get the most out of river basins—both for the protection of nature and the performance of development. With that balance, I will be satisfied to turn it over to our grandchildren.”

David L. Harrison is a water resources lawyer in Boulder, Colorado, retired and of counsel with the firm of Moses, Wittemyer, Harrison and Woodruff, P.C. He currently works as a consultant to The Nature Conservancy acting as senior advisor to support its Great Rivers Partnership.

In this role, he works with the strategic group on sustainable infrastructure. David focuses on the application of that approach at several demonstration projects including the Yangtze River Basin in China and the Mekong River in Southeast Asia. In addition, he works with the International Hydropower Association to implement a global protocol and practice. 

David served as a member of the Board of Governors of The Nature Conservancy from 1980-1990, and was chairman of the board during 1988-1989. He is a graduate of the University of Colorado, holding degrees in law and civil engineering, hydraulics. 

David has co-authored several professional articles on water resource matters, focusing principally on ground water-surface water issues and ecosystem management. In his spare time, he enjoys skiing, hiking, fishing with his grandkids and dancing in nature.
