When PlayPower, LT of Farmington, Missouri was looking for new avenues for corporate philanthropy, they decided to visit The Nature Conservancy’s website. What they found was the Plant-A-Billion Trees campaign, a reforestation initiative in the South America’s Atlantic Forest that was just the kind of conservation work they wanted to support: “Kids are at the heart of what we do. We build playgrounds that help them stay happy and healthy. And we care for the world they’ll inherit.”

The Conservancy is working with local partners to bring the Atlantic Forest back from the brink, restoring 1 million acres of land by planting 1 billion trees by 2015.  This restoration effort has the potential to remove 4 million pounds of carbon dioxide from our atmosphere every year. 

PlayPower has donated over $80,000 to the Plant-A-Billion Trees campaign. When Conservancy Project Director Miguel Calmon made the journey from Brazil to Missouri last May, he was able to personally thank PlayPower executives for their support. With PlayPower's help, the Conservancy has now funded the planting of over five million trees to reconnect the viable fragments of this ancient rainforest struggling to sustain plant and animal diversity equal to the Amazon.
