Submissions to Nature Conservancy

Do you have a story to tell about an experience in nature? We’d love to hear about it. 
 
In every issue, Nature Conservancy publishes a reader's personal essay about an experience in nature. We publish these essays in a department called “Human Nature.”

Successful submissions tell a genuine story, with a beginning, middle and end. They relate an anecdote from a spectacular adventure or reveal a new insight into an old familiar place. They engage using humor or nostalgia or a bit of both.

We want stories that develop, that unfold, that move the reader from one point to another or from one perspective to another. We seek more than mere observations of the natural world. We want engagement in the natural world.
 

Submissions of 625 words are welcome at magazine@tnc.org. Please type "Attn: Human Nature Editor" in the subject line.
