To Save a River
Scott Dickerson and Dennis C. Shultz

Scott Dickerson and Dennis C. Shultz’s To Save a River (Aperture Foundation, $50) documents the effort to protect the modest watershed of the Ducktrap River in midcoast Maine, one of only eight rivers in the United States that support a wild population of the endangered Atlantic Salmon. Shultz’s hauntingly beautiful images accompany Dickerson’s eloquent narrative of the workings of this quiet backcountry river and the diverse coalition of citizens’ groups, agencies and organizations (including the Conservancy) working to protect it amid recent development pressures.
