Roberto Hernandez is Chairman of Banco Nacional de México, one of the most emblematic institutions in the country, and a relentless private philanthropist. Mr. Hernandez has founded several non-profit organizations to promote and protect the cultural and environmental heritage in Mexico, as well as to promote education and better lives of thousands of disadvantaged groups of countrymen.
Previously, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Banco Nacional de Mexico, Grupo Financiero Banamex, and Acciones y Valores, the leading stock brokerage house in the country. He was also Chairman of the Board of Bolsa Mexicana de Valores and Chairman of the Mexican Bankers Association. Roberto Hernandez is on the Board of Directors of The Nature Conservancy and Co-Chairs the Latin American Conservation Council. In addition, he is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National Museum of Arts, Honorary Chairman of the Museum of the Arts of Veracruz, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Children’s Hospital of Mexico and Board Member of several leading enterprises of Mexico and Latin America. He also serves as member of the International Advisory Committee of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. In 2005 he was awarded the Sorolla Medal by the Hispanic Society in New York for his contribution and promotion of the arts in Mexico.
