Nizan Guanaes is the chairman of Grupo ABC. Grupo ABC is a Brazilian company comprised of 13 companies specializing in advertising, marketing services, content, and entertainment. In only ten years, Grupo ABC has become the biggest communication group in Latin America. According to Advertising Age research, it ranks 18th in the world. Today the group has more than 150 clients and 1,600 employees who work at branches located in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Curitiba, Belo Horizonte, Brasília, New York, and San Francisco.
Mr. Guanaes’ career success has been recognized not only in Brazil but also in the international market. Mr. Guanaes was considered one of the five most influential Brazilian entrepreneurs by the Financial Times. He is also among the 21 most influential media and marketing professionals according to Advertising Age. Fast Company magazine says he is “one of the 100 most creative people in the business world.” He defends the idea that entrepreneurship represents a path to human and economic development. Nizan Guanaes was awarded the Entrepreneur of the Year prize during the Ernst & Young Brazil awards in 2008 and Communication Entrepreneur of the Year by IstoÉ magazine in 2009. In 2010, Mr. Guanaes received one more prize for his entrepreneurship vision: “Poder ABC Business Award,” a prize granted by Poder magazine and The Americas Business Council Foundation (ABC). Mr. Guanaes is not only an entrepreneur and an advertising professional, he is also very engaged in social causes.
Nizan Guanaes is a Goodwill ambassador at UNESCO and a member of UNAIDS, a highly respected organization that fights HIV.
He also plays an active role as a member of Clinton Global Initiative for the World’s Economic Forum, Endeavor, and The Women in the World Foundation.
