Office Depot and The Nature Conservancy Advance Forest Conservation
Office Depot—the world’s leading reseller of paper—has collaborated with NatureServe, Conservation International and The Nature Conservancy to form the Forest & Biodiversity Conservation Alliance. Office Depot contributed $2.2 million to launch the Alliance, a five-year strategy to develop the information, standards and tools needed to advance the company's forest and biodiversity conservation policies. The project work helps reduce the environmental footprint of Office Depot’s forest and paper product suppliers while contributing to global biodiversity conservation. Through its participation in the Alliance, Office Depot has adopted more eco-friendly paper procurement policies.
With support from Office Depot, The Nature Conservancy has advanced scientific knowledge of Canada’s Boreal forests, helped to strengthen standards of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI), and initiated a project to create incentives to improve forest conditions across the Cumberland Plateau of the Southern United States.
