Better Business BureauThe Nature Conservancy meets all of the Standards for Charity Accountability established by the BBB Wise Giving Alliance. The BBB Wise Giving Alliance is a national charity watchdog affiliated with the Better Business Bureau (BBB).

Over the past 55 years, The Nature Conservancy has grown to become the world’s largest and most respected international conservation organization. Our growth is due in large part to our solid, science-based approach that enables us to identify Earth’s most important natural places. But, it is also due to our unique ability to work with all kinds of partners to achieve lasting conservation results, and to raise awareness about preserving and restoring the natural world.

Our Members

The Nature Conservancy counts approximately one million members who are committed to our mission.
In general, Conservancy members are:

  • College graduates, with a high percentage holding advanced degrees
  • Loyal—70 percent have been members for 3 years or more, and 33 percent have been members for 10 years or more
  • Supportive of partnerships with the business community to advance the organization’s mission
  • More likely to travel, hike, enjoy the arts, and own vacation property than the general population 

Demographic information

  • 69 percent of Conservancy members are female and 31 percent are male
  • Mean age is 60 years old, with a growing number of younger members
