Since many of these areas are in remote regions ill-equipped for visitors, we cannot promise that you can visit. The health of the ecosystem is often dependent on its remoteness.
The Nature Conservancy does not remove land from local control. We do monitor and lead the conservation programs we support, but they are carried out by our network of local partners.
The Nature Conservancy will send you information about the specific region in which your adoption is located, including details about resident plants and animals as well as the conservation work being undertaken.
It is simply an honorary certificate; it does not in any way denote ownership. What it does signify, however, is your sincere commitment to protect a piece of the most threatened ecosystem on Earth — the rainforest.
