Cornell posts detailed analyses of ivory-bill video on its website
The Cornell Lab of Ornithology has created a section on its website that provides the detailed, scientific analyses of the video of the ivory-billed woodpecker taken by David Luneau in April 2004. Visit the site.

- Clarendon's Big Woods Birding Festival set for May 20
The 2006 Big Woods Birding Festival will take place in Clarendon, Ark., on the shores of the White River, Saturday, May 20. The family festival will include bird walks, a fishing derby, presentations by renowned nature writers and birders, as well as an expert presentation focusing on news from the winter and spring 2005/2006 search for the ivory-billed woodpecker in the Big Woods of Arkansas.
- Conservancy receives USFWS grant for IBW habitat restoration
Using $380,950 from a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service grant, The Nature Conservancy in Arkansas will restore 440 acres of farmland to bottomland hardwood forests to expand habitat for the ivory-billed woodpecker. The project involves restoration of Benson Creek to its natural flow regime and reforestation efforts. The site is adjacent to areas where ivory-bill sightings have been confirmed. The project will be monitored and used as a demonstration site to help inform landowners about restoration techniques.
- USFWS creates website for birders visiting the Big Woods
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has created a website for birders and wildlife watchers planning visits to the Big Woods of Arkansas. The site contains sections with "Before you go" information, maps and other helpful information.
- Ivory-bill added to Arkansas birds records
After reviewing evidence of the ivory-billed woodpecker the Bird Records Committee of the Arkansas Audubon Society has voted to change the status of the bird in Arkansas from "extirpated" to "present."

The Cornell Lab of Ornithology recently released sound recordings from the Big Woods. Researchers say they may be those of the ivory-billed woodpecker.
- Conservancy and partners host ivory-bill symposium Oct. 31-Nov. 3 in Brinkley
The event, which brought together more than 120 scientists and other natural resource professionals together to increase understanding of the history, ecology and management of large woodpeckers. Presentation abstracts are also available for online viewing.
