May 08, 2008: World Wildlife Fund and The Nature Conservancy Release Map of Freshwater Systems
Over a decade of work and contributions by more than 200 leading conservation scientists have produced a first-ever comprehensive map and database of the diversity of life in the world’s freshwater ecosystems. The map and associated fish data – a collaborative project between World Wildlife Fund and The Nature Conservancy -- are featured in the May issue of the journal BioScience.

June 01, 2007: The Nature Conservancy, US Geological Survey Partner to Advance the Study of Environmental Flows Sci
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) recently appointed Christopher Konrad, Ph.D., to work collaboratively with The Nature Conservancy to advance environmental water flow science. Konrad’s appointment is part of an Interagency Personnel Agreement between the two agencies to promote the sustainable management of freshwater ecosystems throughout the United States and beyond.

May 09, 2007: Pioneering Effort to Restore Green River is Extended
For the first time, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has decided to permanently change the way it operates one of its dams to benefit wildlife. The Corps and The Nature Conservancy announced today that a three year experiment to help restore the ecologically significant Green River in Kentucky is now standard practice.

December 07, 2006: Conservancy, US Army Corps of Engineers Develop Cutting-edge Hydrological Software
As part of the Sustainable Rivers Project, a national partnership to improve dam management on the nation’s rivers, the Conservancy and the Corps have created the Regime Prescription Tool (HEC-RPT), a computer program to assist in the development of ecologically sustainable recommendations for dam operations

November 13, 2006: Eloise Kendy, Ph.D., Joins the Conservancy's Sustainable Waters Program Staff
The Nature Conservancy announces the addition of Eloise Kendy, Ph.D., to its Sustainable Waters Program as an environmental flows specialist. Based in Helena, Montana, Kendy will help guide the organization’s efforts to advance global water policies that ensure adequate water flows in rivers, lakes and wetlands.

June 21, 2006: Nature Conservancy Forum to Focus on Freshwater Management
The Nature Conservancy’s International Leadership Council, composed of more than two dozen leaders, will convene in Washington D.C. on June 22 and June 23 to learn more about the crucial role that freshwater ecosystems play in global development and conservation.

January 25, 2006: Hydrology and Restoration Specialist Hired to Support Sustainable Waters Management Efforts
The Nature Conservancy announced today the addition of Jeff Opperman to its Sustainable Waters Program. Opperman, 34, will work out of Davis, Calif. as the program’s technical advisor for water management.
