As International Water Policy Advisor, Alexander Gritsinin helps the Global Freshwater Team advance Blue Water Certification in collaboration with the Water Stewardship Initiative and the Pacific Institute. Alexander works on various aspects of best management practices, standards and indicators design and implementation as well as on stakeholders’ data collection and analysis.

Prior to joining the Conservancy, Alexander assisted UNESCO 's International Hydrological Programme in its fundraising efforts to address the water governance problems in African least developed countries. 

As project manager at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris, he co-led a number of projects addressing water supply and sanitation sector issues in the Russian Federation, the Caucasus and Central Asia (EECCA). Alexander has produced studies of the Aral Sea crisis and the major financial, social, and environmental risks associated with centralized cotton farming in Central Asia as well as of environmental industries in selected Asian countries. 

Alexander led the manufacturing operations of the largest Coca-Cola facility in the Uzbekistan, designed, established and supervised the Quality Assurance and Environmental Management Department; advised the Board of Directors on necessary changes aiming at improvements in operations, environmental management, and health and safety.

Alexander holds Master's Degrees in Biophysics from Uzbekistan National University and in Environmental Management and Policy from Yale University. He is fluent in Russian and English
