Climate Change Careers

Climate change is the greatest environmental challenge we face today. According to the Conservancy’s lead scientist, Peter Kareiva, “Climate change is already stressing human and natural systems in a way that menaces natural economies, human economies, people and biodiversity.

Right now we still have options for adapting to those stresses – if emissions continue to grow, then our options will be few and the losers will be many.”

To address Climate Change, The Nature Conservancy is growing its multidisciplinary team to:

  • Advocate for policies that reduce emissions from all major sources and sectors
  • Demonstrate and promote forest conservation and restoration as credible, cost-effective ways to reduce carbon emissions
  • Develop strategies, methods and tools to mainstream the implementation of nature-based strategies and programs to help people, plants, and animals adapt to a warming world
