Brief biography
Duncan Marsh is the Director of International Climate Policy for The Nature Conservancy, and leads the Conservancy's Climate and Tropical Forests Initiative, aimed at reducing emissions from deforestation (REDD) by developing, testing and demonstrating effective approaches to valuing and conserving forests for their contribution to climate change mitigation. Prior to joining The Nature Conservancy in 2006, Mr. Marsh managed the United Nations Foundation’s energy and climate change program, overseeing a large portfolio of climate change, energy efficiency and renewable energy projects. From 1997 to 2001, Mr. Marsh was with the U.S. Department of State, where he was lead U.S. negotiator for the technology transfer and international aviation and maritime emissions elements of the international climate change negotiations, and worked at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing. He also has worked for Natsource LLC as a consultant on greenhouse gas markets and international climate change policy, and as an English teacher at Tunghai University in Taiwan. Mr. Marsh holds an MS in Environmental Science and a Master of Public Affairs from Indiana University, and is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
