Description
This 41.68 acre parcel located 10 minutes from the City of Baraboo and 1 hour from the state capital in Madison, Wisconsin is in the rural setting of the Baraboo Hills National Natural Landmark and in an area designated by the Nature Conservancy as One of the Last Great Places. The property consists of native forest, pine plantation and open field. A tributary of Pine Creek runs through the center of the property. The diversity of cover on this parcel offers excellent outdoor recreational opportunities with easy access along a paved town road.

Primary Conservation Objective
The Conservancy’s long term objective in the Baraboo Hills is to protect large blocks of intact forest which provide habitat for migratory tropical songbirds.

Biodiversity Highlights
This property is across the road from over 4000 acres of deep woods at the Nature Conservancy’s Baxter’s Hollow Preserve which is home to pristine streams, an impressive assortment of rare warblers and other migratory songbirds and plant communities found more commonly in northern Wisconsin.

Qualifications and Restrictions
The conservation easement will limit activities including: 1)subdivision, 2) no residences or commercial activity, 3) forestry practices are allowed under a plan approved by TNC and the Department of Natural Resources, 4) road and off road trail development, 5) alteration of the topography, 6) removal of vegetation except under an approved management plan
