The property is or will be encumbered by a conservation easement as described below. The Nature Conservancy will hold a restrictive conservation easement over the entire 1,700 tract.

Description
This mountainous tract is largely covered in the biologically diverse upland mixed hardwood forests typical of the Northern Cumberland Plateau. This undeveloped property adjoins a larger TNC preserve and harbors an extraordinary number of plants, aquatic fauna, amphibians, fungi, and cave-dependent species.

Primary Conservation Objective
The Nature Conservancy's role at the Alpine Mountains Matrix Conservation Area is to protect this area from further fragmentation from development, to preserve the overall biodiversity of the Northern Cumberlands region, and to protect the karst systems and watersheds contained therein.

Biodiversity Highlights
The property provides habitat for numerous plants, aquatic fauna, amphibians, fungi, and cave-dependent species,as well as migratory birds.
