Description The South Eatmon property is located in Berkeley County, South Carolina near the town of Alvin. The tract is adjacent to lands of the Francis Marion National Forest and lies within close proximity to the Santee River.
Primary Conservation Objective The South Eatmon tract is located within the Santee River watershed and adjacent to the federally protected Francis Marion National Forest. Protection of the tract will protect water quality associated with the watershed. A conservation easement on the tract will preserve the tract and greatly benefit the surrounding National Forest lands.
Biodiversity Highlights South Eatmon provides a diversity of forest habitats which support a variety of native plant and animal species including migratory songbirds, deer, and wild turkey. Wetlands located on the property help sustain water quality in the Santee River watershed.
