Description Two three-section tracts of Cherry Ranch consisting of open prairie which would be excellent rangeland. Located 11 miles south of Harrison.
Primary Conservation Objective The Conservancy wishes the property to remain an open, rangeland setting to sustain biological diversity.
Biodiversity Highlights Cherry Ranch boasts one of the most diverse mixes of terrestrial plant communities to be found along the Upper Niobrara River, home to regal fritillary, burrowing owl, ferruginous hawk, long-billed curlew, and swift fox.
Qualifications and Restrictions Traditional livestock and ranching uses are not prohibited. The conservation easement will limit activities including: 1) subdivision, 2) no more than one single family residence within designated building envelope, 3) mining, 4) roads and off-road trail development, 5) alteration of the topography, and 6) removal of vegetation except under approved management plan.
