Description
Large and small tracts of Ozarks woodland located southwest of Montauk State Park in the upper Current River drainage basin. Some timber has been recently harvested. All tracts have abundant wildlife and state and county road access.

Primary Conservation Objective
Protection of the Current River watershed, hydrology and water quality, through the use of working forest conservation easments on private timber lands to maintain native forest and woodland landcover.

Biodiversity Highlights
The Current River is one of the most important mid-sized rivers in mid-continental North America. It hosts an impressive 35 aquatic species that are endemic to the Ozarks Ecoregion, 25 of which have their best global population occurrences in the watershed. Private timer lands within the watershed play a critical role maintaining hydrology and water quality in the river and provide habitat for less threatened native and endemic species, and habitat for migrating and nesting song birds.

Qualifications and Restrictions
Limited subdivision and development allowed under terms of easement. Timber harvests allowed with approved forest management plan. Other non-commercial recreational uses allowed as congruent with conservation values of the site.
