Description Less than an hour from Sun Valley and adjacent to The Nature Conservancy's Silver Creek Preserve, this secluded ranch shares almost 2 miles of its northern border with the Preserve and its southern border with public lands. The ranch features over half a mile of Stalker Creek with trout fishing and waterfowl hunting. The Conservancy has placed conservation easements on all private lands surrounding this property, giving the buyer unparalleled privacy and eliminating any housing development next to Stalker Creek Ranch.
Primary Conservation Objective Protect, restore and monitor the Silver Creek desert aquatic ecosystem to preserve its aquatic and riparian biodiversity. This includes endemic fish, two wetland dependent plant species of concern, one of the highest aquatic invertebrate richnesses in North America and habitat for more than 165 species of birds.
Biodiversity Highlights Stalker Creek Ranch contributes to the overall conservation of the Silver Creek ecosystem. The Ranch includes three spring complexes and their sub-watersheds that make up a critical part of the local watershed of Stalker Creek, a main tributary to Silver Creek. In addition to providing habitat for a number of wildlife species, the Ranch provides a link between the public land in the Picabo Hills and the Preserve for sage grouse, elk, deer, mountain lion and moose. Birds found on the property include songbirds, bald eagles, trumpeter swans and sandhill cranes. Fish species include rainbow trout, brown trout, dace and sculpin.
Qualifications and Restrictions Conservation outcomes on this property will limit subdivision and development, restrict livestock use, road and trail development, commercial use and water management.
